Home build: OSB or Plywood
« on: January 23, 2014, 01:09:58 PM »
Will be starting a new home build during the summer: I've only used plywood before but OSB is cheaper. Anyone have experience with this? Is it okay to use and in what thickness, thinner sheets are cheaper.

I'm not sure about OSB, maybe someone else might be able to say. I only had to buy a small bit of timber but found that the builders merchants were up to 5 times cheaper than the likes of Woodies. I got my wood in the end from build4less and they delivered for a small fee which was handy.

Thanks, I'll try that. Did you need a VAT number or anything or did you deal with them as a private individual?

Phil,
Your enquiry about OSB caught my attention. What do you intend to use this board for? I have considerable experience of OSB as I used it to sheet my timber frame house.
