Highballs
« on: September 10, 2013, 09:56:23 PM »
anyone do many routes in Dalkey or elsewhere that they wouuld consider highballs? routes like Little Wing in the quarry, "unprotected" and often damp so when you come across it dry would you be tempted to hop on and 'give it a go'?
its on the same slab as bird brain and northern exposure, which are often dry and top roped regularly by many people.

Pilaster, Crash Landing are both boulder problems really. Cirus Minor crux isn't that high and there isn't any decent gear. Solitary Confinement is supposed to be amazing.
Gnasher doesn't look that tall. Erewhen is an obvious one.

Solitary confinement is amazing, can't imagine highballing the gnasher, particularly that groove at the top,

cirus minor always looked a bit tricky so haven't tried it yet, Solitary Confinement! haven't made much progress on that. must get there again with a couple pads.

Oh right, I assumed the hard climbing was over at the top of the crack.

You would have no problems on Cirus Minor Theo...

Agree with Baz on The Gnasher... I had a load of solos - some of which would count as Highballs:

Erewhon, Holymoac Direct (beside Erewhon), Pilaster, crash landing, Cruise Arete (Excellent above pad!), Solitary Confinement (Hard trad 6b crux that is a highball problem - 5c tech finish(ish)), Space Shuttle, Voltas Vortic Vector, The Rack (beside dirty dick), Everything on Ivy Wall
