Doolin Bouldering

Hey Folks,

A few of us locally have been getting out to Lackglass in Doolin recently. We're either new to bouldering or well out of training but there's been a nice buzz and we're working our way through the problems.

I had a few questions:
We've been slapping up a few lines not in the guides but that are probably worth repeating; none too hard but fun all the same. Should we log them or assume someone else already has?

Also, could the grades be a little soft at Doolin since there's probably been less repeats than somewhere like Glendalough?

Finally, here's a video a buddy put together of the last few days in the sun on the rocks. He doesn't climb (yet) but he knows how to shoot!

You should post them up, if they've been done before, someone will let you know - Colm?

Might be soft, haven't bouldered there much.  Hard to compare to the slopers of glendo though; to a degree, grades can be area-specific.  Generally, grades settle in an area over time with a few ascents and opinions.  Most areas have some 'classic' problems that act as benchmarks fro grading new ones.

Nice Vid,

Nice vid lads, I love that place, its hard to climb at Doolin or anywhere in this heat, but on the whole I think Doolin grades are pretty accurate and easier than Glendo grades which are wildly under graded
