Bouldering meet this year?
« on: January 08, 2013, 04:34:02 PM »
The first few bouldering meets were great success but since then the attendance has gone down a lot. If the weather is good a reasonable number of people may show up at the boulders in Glendalough but very few stay overnight. Is it worth doing this year?

Every year I really want to go but the mrs seems to know the date before me and book holidays every time.

not that I will be any use getting back after a broken wrist

I'll probably turn up again but don't let that discourage you. Was nice to see one teenager using it to get on top of his first outdoor bloc last year.

Alternatively  would it be worth doing it at Fair Head this year to tie in with the guide? (I know there is the crag meet already so perhaps it's doubling up.).

It would be good to have a good group of spotters for a trip to the head

I think FH is pretty well covered with the main climbing meet. I suspect there will be more folk bouldering at it this year due to the new guidebook...
