Climbing grade conversion
« on: February 12, 2013, 04:52:03 AM »

I'm planning a trip over to Ireland for some climbing, from the U.S. and I was curious about the conversion in grading scale.  For bouldering we mostly all use the Hueco ("The V Scale") with VB on up to V20 or something crazy like that.  I have no idea what the roped scale is called, but it goes something like 5.5 on up with a, b, and c determining the difficulty within the number range (ex: 5.10a, 5.10b, and 5.10c then 5.11a, etc.).  Anywho... the routes I've been looking into are all in a different system and I was hoping somebody might have an idea of how it all looks next to what we use.  I'd sort of hate to get there and realize I've overestimated or severely underestimated my skills.
