Best Aretes in Wicklow
« on: April 10, 2012, 03:11:22 PM »
So I've been away for a while - fill me in, what are the best arete problems?

Things I'd look for include:

Long reaches  ;)
Highball
Good landings
Balance/tension crucial
Slopers
Deadpoint/dynamic moves

John Howard put up what must be one of the best aretes around at the weekend in the Scalp - Eyrie 6C *cough*7A!*cough*

Away from the number, Lough Bray - doesn't really climb like an arete though.
There is Pierres one in Cloghoge. Come and play I think its called.
Tony's Arete in Lough Dan.
Mall Rats in Mall Hill.
Solidarity in Glenmac.
There is Cavalier Attitude in Glenmalure.
Contact in Carrigshouk.

If you're not averse to a bit of a stroll, there's a few nice aretes up by arts lough above glenmalure. Musophobia looks very good.

Thanks guys

Done Rythm and Stealth (easier than Eyrie!!), Chubbachups, Andys arete, White stick, Solidarity and Tomb stone

So the to do list as it stands looks like:
Away from the numbers, Come and play, Tony's Arete, Mall Rats, Cavalier Attitude, Contact, Manical laugh, Eyrie and Musophobia

I'd add Mother in Ravens Glen and AROTF in Glendalough to the list aswell

Cheers!
