Bouldering Discussion / Re: Dublin newbie

I'd ask again in July re: rooms as it's a bit early now for August.
The boulders of Ireland are not generally suffering from overcrowding so you should find your psych is quickly made welcome.

Bouldering Discussion / Re: Bouldering meet 1/2/3th March CANCELLED
« on: February 28, 2013, 01:14:07 PM »
Sorry to hear it Dave. I really enjoyed the last couple of years so thanks! I think it's a shame that there won't be an inclusive, open meet this year. Can't really understand lack of interest when I see so many people bouldering in Inchicore/Awesome all the time, and there's a reasonably well-attended competition series in the country. but perhaps it's not well-defined and clear what the added value is of the meet for people who haven't gone before vs. picking up the guide and getting out to the hills for the day. People seem  to prefer staying in their own circles tbh but surely two days and a night a year is good to break out and make new connections, see some old faces?

Bouldering Discussion / Re: Bouldering meet this year?

I'll probably turn up again but don't let that discourage you. Was nice to see one teenager using it to get on top of his first outdoor bloc last year.

Alternatively  would it be worth doing it at Fair Head this year to tie in with the guide? (I know there is the crag meet already so perhaps it's doubling up.).

Hope that Red Bull sort this out. Fair play aranman for taking the trouble.

Bouldering Discussion / Doolin Camping
« on: July 11, 2012, 12:24:12 PM »
Hi all,
Is there any wildcamping potential near the Doolin Boulders for a couple of nights/1 tent or is it best to use the facilities in town?

Thanks for that info. I'll look out for windy days.

I know it's always a seepage lottery but has anyone been up this summer?

I'm pretty happy with my metolius stomp. We also rented a moon pad in Albarracin. It was brand new and completely useless (maybe it was a faulty foam batch or something...I can't believe they are all that soft.).

I'll wait to challenge any emerging consensus.

Well, Dark Angle SS is obviously not going to settle into that list as a benchmark - suggestions currently span 5 grades. I'd suggest Barry has it about right though. Definitely harder than 6B+ imo.
I think the stand was undergraded in the guide too.

:( I'm doomed.

Dave's post baffles me. I'm really missing something on Chillax. I found (the moves I can do) much harder than Kinky Reggae stand start.

I have no idea about proper grades. Since about November I just see everything in complex Gravity colour grades.

i.e mid-range or softish of the yellows before the last yellows, maybe a top end red these days.
